Band competes at state

At the state marching contest Nov. 6-7 in San Antonio, the Blue Raider Marching Band placed ninth. This contest is home to some of the most advanced bands in the state, many of which who have competed on a national level.

Prelims were held in the morning, with about 30 bands competing, and only 10 would be called back the next day for finals.

Screams of excitement could be heard throughout the walls of the hotel, as L.D. Bell was announced a finalist. Woodrow Wilson, Vandergrift, Flower Mound, Keller, Woodlands, and Ronald Reagan were among some of the schools that advanced alongside LD Bell.

Flower Mound with its stunning show placed first at once more another competition. Second place included Hebron, as well as third being taken by Marcus. L.D. Bell was happy with the ninth place finish. The band was proud of how they did at this very competitive state contest.

This put a close to the L.D. Bell 2016 marching season, and as the new tri started, members of band began their concert season which includes both first, second and third band, as well as jazz band. Also auditions for all region start on Dec. 6, as well as the next chance to hear the LD Bell Band at their winter concert taking place mid-December.
