The band’s community performance on Nov. 1 drew a crowd of friends and family.

In the highly competitive Area B marching contest, the Blue Raider Band emerged as one of five bands to earn a trip to the state marching contest Nov. 8 in San Antonio.

For the Area B contest at Pennington Field, 25 6A bands competed in prelims, with the top 10 advancing to finals later that evening. Of those 10, only the top five advanced to state. Bell placed third behind Keller and Duncanville to win the right to compete for another state championship.

Earlier this season, the Blue Raider Band competed in the BOA (Bands of America) Plano marching contest. This contest, held Oct. 8, was one of the biggest, most competitive as well as challenging competitions that Bell would be facing this season.

Prelims were held early in the morning, with bands from all around the area competing against each other to be in the top 10 that would complete the same evening in finals. With their stunning show entitled “Beyond the Veil,” Bell advanced and was called back for finals that evening.

With pride and precision, Bell performed their show for the second time that day, and despite executing an eye-catching performance, placed fourth out of the top 10 bands that had advanced. Above them were Hebron, Marcus and taking the grand first place, Flower Mound.

Despite not taking home first place, Bell Band still kept a positive attitude as well as a newfound motivation to get better each and every day, and were very kind and congratulatory towards the well deserved Flower Mound winners.

The L.D. Bell Blue Raider Band will be competing in their main BOA performance in San Antonio on Nov. 4 and 5 for the Super Regional before returning to San Antonio for the state contest.
