Melissa Roa Quintero

As she walks down the hallways to their next class, she spots a hallway that reminds her of the first year here, then a memory seems to have seeped in to her brain. Rediscovering the memory has seemed to invoke a chance of self -reflection, as she now realizes that her final days are arriving.

This is something that Melissa Roa Quintero must face.

With this being her last year at L.D. Bell High School, Roa Quintero is both excited, yet nervous since the end and the birth of an era is beginning.

“I’m going to miss this place that I’ve known for three years, but I’m excited that I don’t have to go to school anymore,” she says.

She also says that once she leaves she’ll miss Mrs. Weiss “because she is a nice person who she has grown to love.”

Once done with high school, Roa Quintero hopes to travel and pursue further education.

“I’ll like to go to Colombia for family purposes and to take a break,” she said. She would like to go to college if possible, but she doesn’t know what career to choose as a major.

Now that she is a senior, she has been on the newspaper staff for two years.

“It’s interesting, fun, and cool,” she said.

Then we question what careers go good with this type of club the most, plus any words for those who want to join in next.

“This class can help people get started with any profession that has to deal with photography, journalism or writing,” she said.

After all this we questioned what her hobbies, and also what she does outside of school, in addition being able to describe herself.

After school she likes to hang out with her dog, work, and she is fond of animals. She describes herself as quiet, active, and well mannered.

Roa Quintero’s family is important to her.

“My mom’s name is Alba,” she said. “She is from Colombia and works in a hotel. My dad died when I was 10 years old. I have 2 cousins one already graduated the other in school, and I have three aunts.”

Melissa wants to go places, but she said she needs to recharge before heading out again. With family always on her side and her meek manner, she should be able to achieve anything.
